Obituary for Jack Eugene Noel

Mr. Jack Eugene Noel, age 80, of West Morris Hill, Covington, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on August 20, 2017.
Mr. Noel was born November 14, 1936 in Alleghany County, the son of the late George L. and Alice Lantz Noel. Jack was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1953 and attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. He served his country as a member of the United States Army where he was stationed at the Berlin Wall in Germany. Mr. Noel was employed in the Research Lab by Westvaco where he retired after many years of service as the Research and Development Maintenance Supervisor.
Jack was a lifetime member of Greenwood Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he served his church as an Elder Emeritus and Clerk of Session and Trustee. Also, Mr. Noel was an adult Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendant, sang in the choir and most of all, he loved serving the Lord. Jack was a wonderful brother who loved his family beyond words. He was kind to many who were in need and gave with great love in his heart.
Mr. Noel is survived by his brother, George “Buster” Noel; sisters, JoAnn Noel and fiancé, David Chestnut, Juanita Ailstock and fiancé, Jim Crawford, Pauline K. Paxton and Steven Redman; brother-in-law, Bill Ailstock; a number of nieces and nephews; and beloved pets, his dog, Taffy and his cat, Rascal.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Noel was preceded in death by a brother, Grover C. Noel; sister, Jeanetta Noel Ailstock; and sister-in-law, Joyce N. Noel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Greenwood Evangelical Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Catoe and Richard Vinson officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Knick, Floyd Fullen, Larry Peters, Ralph “Jr.” Watson, John Batten and T.J. Dressler.
The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 11:30 A.M. until time of the service at Greenwood Presbyterian Church and at other times, at the residence of Juanita Ailstock, 112 Cliffview Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Greenwood Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 626 E. Morris Hill Road, Covington, VA 24426.
