Obituary for William Rimmer

William Rimmer
Mr. William Elmore “Bill” Rimmer, Jr., age 81, of Clifton Forge, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Salem, VA. He was the husband of the late Betty Ruth Kitts Rimmer.
Mr. Rimmer was born July 24, 1930 in Richlands, VA, the son of the late William Elmore Rimmer, Sr. and Grace Shortridge Rimmer. He served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a life member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars. A member of this community since 1964, Mr. Rimmer was employed by A&P Grocery Store as a supervisor in the produce department, retiring with forty-four years of service. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mr. Rimmer enjoyed fishing, attending yard sales, going to Happy’s Flea Market and watching the Dallas Cowboys.
Mr. Rimmer is survived by two sons, Gary Lee Rimmer and William Jeffrey Rimmer, Sr.; one daughter, Melissa R. Pullen of Clifton Forge; ten grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Rimmer of Texas and Perry Rimmer of Oklahoma; two sisters, Margaret Rimmer Johnson of Richlands and Jean Rimmer Bandy of Richlands.
In addition to his parents, William Elmore Rimmer, Sr. and Grace Shortridge Rimmer, and his wife, Betty Ruth Kitts Rimmer, Mr. Rimmer was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Rimmer and one sister, Irene Rimmer Bates.
Pallbearers will be Austen Pullen, Bradley Butler, Scott Balser, Andrew Dilley, Aaron Dilley and Tad Humphries.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Price officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Graveside rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until service time at the church and at other times at the residence of William and Traci Rimmer, 4350 Pitzer Ridge Road, Covington.
