George Garrett
Mr. George Williams Garrett, age 66, of 115 Mountain Lake Drive, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of Sheila Smith Garrett.
Mr. Garrett was born May 15, 1944 in Charlottesville, the son of the late Gorman Ryan Garrett and Betsy Mountcastle Garrett. He served two tours of duty which he volunteered for in the Vietnam Theatre as a member of the United States Air Force. Mr. Garrett graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor’s Degree. A member of this community since December, 1988, he was employed as a systems analyst by Mead Westvaco before his retirement. Mr. Garrett attended First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Sheila Smith Garrett, Mr. Garrett is survived by a brother, Robert Ryan Garrett and wife, Barbara of Myrtle Beach, SC; four nephews, William B. Hennessy, Ira David Levy, Bruce Alan Levy and Eric W. Levy.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 10, 2010, from the chapel of with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.
