Mrs. Shirley Wright Bess, age 79, of 250 Elliston Circle West, Daleville, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Glebe Healthcare Center, Daleville.   

                Mrs. Bess was born September 9, 1930, the daughter of the late Jay Posey Wright and Maude Robinson Wright.  She lived in the Covington area most of her life and resided at 430 Dolly Ann Drive for many years prior to moving to The Glebe.  Mrs. Bess was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Class of 1950.  She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

                Mrs. Bess was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Bess in 1980 and two brothers, Jay Payne Wright in 2002 and Ray Layne Wright in 2010.

                Mrs. Bess is survived by a daughter, Lisa Bess Bolin of Kenner, LA; a brother, Charles Wayne Wright of Crozet; two sisters, Rosemary Craft and husband, John, of Covington, Carol Phillippe and husband, Joe, of Mills River, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

                A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 24, 2010, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Snider officiating.  Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

                The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
