Ronnie PhillipsMr. Ronnie O. Phillips, age 74, of 904 N. Rockbridge Avenue, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Salem. He was the husband of Carolyn Lambert Phillips. Mr. Phillips was born March 5, 1936 in Lowell, WV, the son of Ruby Meador. He served his country as a member of the United States Army where he was a military policeman. A resident of this community since 1965, Mr. Phillips was employed as a machine operator by the former AET before his retirement. He was a member of First Christian Church. Mr. Phillips loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, the WVU Mountaineers and NASCAR, enjoyed doing yard work, and especially enjoyed his morning time with the “Front Porch Gang.” He was a devoted husband, dad and a kind generous man who was always willing to help people. In addition to his wife, Carolyn Lambert Phillips, Mr. Phillips is survived by a daughter, Rhonda S. Phillips and William Bowles; a brother, Bobby Angell and wife, Jenny of Covington; four sisters, Fran Angell of Alderson, WV, Glenna Shull of Alderson, WV, Judy Mann and husband, David of Hinton, WV, and Violet Honaker of Canton, OH; special family members, his aunt, Bea Simpkins and his cousin, Carlos Angell and wife, Nilia; special friends, Cecil and Angela Bryant, Ted and Tracy Kessinger, Kara & Kaylin Kessinger, Jay and Lisa Milam, Zane and Max Milam; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 28, 2010, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Cecil Bryant, Richard Mynes, Curt Angell, Stephen Cale, Gary Gilpin, Danny Mann, Jonathan Cale and Ted Kessinger. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
