Mr. Richard Donald King, age 69, of 4424 Midland Trail, died Monday, August 1, 2011, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem, VA.  He was the husband of Gloria Smith King.

                Mr. King was born April 27, 1942 in New Jersey, the son of the late Russell and Ramona Ferris King.

                He worked in the pharmaceutical industry.  Mr. King attended Hoke Chapel United Methodist Church.

                In addition to his wife, Gloria Smith King, Mr. King is survived by three daughters, Kathy, Debbie and Allison, all of New Jersey; eleven grandchildren; one brother, David King of Gray, TN; a sister, Judith Hoffman of St. Pete, FL; and Rich’s canine companion, Woodrow Wilson King.

                A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Friday, August 5, 2011 in Hoke Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Rodden officiating.
