 Richard Ailstock

                Richard “Dickie” Edward Ailstock, a native of Covington, VA, he passed away on December 2, 2011 at the age of 85 in West Palm Beach, Florida after a brief illness.  Richard was born in Covington on May 13, 1926, the only child of the late V.E. “Pete” and Kathryn Ailstock.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Valborg Ailstock, sons, Conrad Ailstock of Wellington, FL and Erik Ailstock of Springfield, VA, and two grandchildren, Pauline and Brian Ailstock, both of Springfield, VA.

                Richard served in the Navy during both World War II and the Korean Conflict.  He graduated from the University of Virginia after his military service and later married Valborg Bustad on May 28, 1960 at the University Chapel in Charlottesville, VA.  Richard spent most of his working career teaching Biology at Annandale High School in Fairfax County, VA where he retired in 1985 after 28 years of service.  In addition to spending time with his family, his passions in life included traveling, reading, and attending the opera and all forms of live theater.

                Richard’s remains were cremated.

                A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
