Mrs. Mary Ellen Davis Jonas, age 95, formerly of 4613 Indian Draft Road, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.   She was the wife of the late Payton W. Jonas.

                Mrs. Jonas was born November 20, 1914 in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Fred B. Davis and Reathy Henley Davis.  A resident of this community since 1947, she was a homemaker.  Mrs. Jonas was a member of Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Senior Citizen’s Group, Home Extension, and was a former 4-H Club leader.

                She was preceded in death by a brother, Rex B. Davis and three sisters, Ardelia King, Claudine Rowell, and Iva Gray White. 

                Mrs. Jonas is survived by two sons, William “Bill” Jonas and wife, Becky of Covington, Eddie B. Jonas and wife, Sandra of Abingdon; nephew, Gary Ratcliffe, who was raised in the home, and his wife, Debbie; four grandchildren, Ginger Jonas Largen of Abingdon, William “Billy” Jonas of Herndon, Jonathan B. Jonas of Marion, Terrance “Toby” Jonas of Clifton Forge; eight great grandchildren, Matthew Largen, Christopher Largen, Spencer Jonas, Claire Jonas, Grace Jonas, Brett Jonas, Micah Jonas and Trevor Jonas; one sister-in-law, Ann Pearl Davis of Covington.

                A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Jonas officiating. 

                Pallbearers will be Gary Ratcliffe, David Davis, Billy Jonas, Toby Jonas, Wayne Largen, Matthew Largen, Christopher Largen and Spencer Jonas.

                The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 P.M. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
