Mrs. Lucille Margaret Helmintoller Thompson, age 93, of Brandon Oaks Apartments, Roanoke, formerly of Clearwater Park, Covington, died Friday July 8, 2011. She was the widow of the late Howard Matthew Thompson, who preceded her in death in 1953.

            Mrs. Thompson was born December 10, 1917 in Summers County West Virginia the daughter of the late Elias Dameron Helmintoller and Nellie Thompson Helmintoller.

She was a former educator in the Alleghany County-Covington School System, having taught at both Jeter Elementary and Boys Home Schools. Mrs. Thompson also served as a teacher in the Delaware Public School System and upon her retirement she returned to Covington until moving to Roanoke in 1992 Most of her adult life was spent in Covington    

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. from the graveside in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Sam Black Church, WV, with the Rev. Jamie Pharr officiating.                         

There will be no formal visitation, but friends may call at Loving Funeral during regular business hours.
