Laura RobertsonLaura Watson Robertson, formerly Laura Agnes Watson, of Middlesboro, Kentucky went home to our heavenly father and family on October 21, 2010. She passed quietly at the end of a prolonged illness for which our prayers are with her. She was preceded to our heavenly home by: Father, Robert Joseph Watson Esquire; Mrs. Else Herd Watson, mother and great friend, and brother, Robert Charles Watson, great pilot and world traveler. Mrs. Robertson is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tommy W. Robertson, formerly of Gainesville, Georgia, former superintendant for city of Covington schools, and career educator for 42 years. As well, she is survived by three sons and their wives, Tommy W. Robertson, IV and Beth of Howie-In- The- Hills, Florida; Robert James Robertson and Belinda of Gap Mills, West Virginia, and William Patrick Robertson and Kaye of Roanoke, VA. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ashley Shannon, of St. Andrews, Scotland, Talon Wayne of Howie-In-The-Hills, FL, Seth Aubrey of Tallahassee, FL, and great grandchildren, Kaleb and Jaylin. Lastly, Mrs. Roberson is survived by her brother, William A. Watson, Poet Laureate of Bell County, Kentucky, with wife, Fran and children, Kitten and Christina. As well, Clara, wife of Robert, and children, Cindy, Rebecca, Margaurite, Cathy, Mark, and Elizabeth, we thank you for your prayers. Born March 11, 1937, Laura Robertson graduated from Middlesboro High School to have three children and receive her Bachelor of Arts in English and Drama from Lincoln Memorial University. Upon her graduation, she began an over 30 year journey in the Covington City School System, teaching people to read and write better. Later, she received a Masters Degree in Administration from the University of Virginia with a specialty in reading. As well, during this period, she served as Title I coordinator. She was a life-long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As well, she loved the garden. An expert in raising roses, she was a member of The Jackson River Garden Club. Finally, she was a reader and Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart in Covington, Virginia, as well as, St. Charles in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Laura Agnes, thank you so much for your love, hope, understanding, and joy! Thank you, as well, for teaching us everyday! A Lover’s Lament My love for you is like a song That sings to me at will. The music of a beating heart That sings and won’t be still.
