Jean Rose-Cox

               Mrs. Jean Rose-Cox, age 56, of 2409 S. Carpenter Drive, died Friday, January 22, 2010, at her residence.  She was the wife of the late Ronald Edward Cox.

                Mrs. Cox was born March 8, 1953 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Leonard Johnson Rose, Sr. and Marion Fairburn Rose.  She served her country as a nurse in the United States Air Force.   Following her military service, Mrs. Cox was employed as a nurse with several area nursing homes including Liberty House before her retirement.  She enjoyed fishing, reading, writing, cooking and playing chess.  Mrs. Cox loved to sing and was in a local band for a number of years.  She loved her dogs, Callie, Daisy and DiDi.

                Mrs. Cox is survived by two brothers, L.J. Rose, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, Joe E. Rose, Sr., all of Covington;  nephews and nieces, Tamara Rose Bennett, Kimberly R. Thomas, Jeffrey L. Rose, James Owen Rose, JoAnna Marie Rose; a number of great nieces and nephews; two special friends, Donna Steelman and Carol Slayton.

                In addition to her parents, Leonard Johnson Rose, Sr. and Marion Fairburn Rose, and husband, Ronald Edward Cox, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a niece, Amy Marie Rose in 1974; a nephew, Joseph E. Rose, Jr. in 1993.

                A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 30, 2010, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Hassmer officiating.

                Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
