Henry Broughman Mr. Henry Matthew Broughman, 75, of Covington, died Thursday evening, May 13, 2010. Mr. Broughman was born September 16, 1934, in New York, a son of the late John W. Broughman and Flora O’Conner Broughman. A 1953 graduate of Eagle Rock High School, he served his country in the United States Army in 1956-1960. A member of this community since 1962, Henry worked as a mechanic for the Chrysler Corporation for 25 years before opening his own garage and was former employee of the former Stanley Nichols Automotive Agency. He was a lifetime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and a member of the Covington Moose Lodge No. 610. Henry loved riding motorcycles, tinkering with cars and playing music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Broughman was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Broughman and Roscoe Leighton; one sister, Virginia Cowman; and one brother-in-law, Robert Peery. Mr. Broughman is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nicole L. Broughman; his son, William Phillip Broughman, of Covington; two granddaughters, Heather Broughman of Waynesboro and Bethany Hagy and her husband, Josh, of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Evelyn Peery, of Longdale, and Mary Johnson and her husband, Ralph, of Iron Gate; two brothers, Thomas Broughman and wife Mary of Eagle Rock and John W. Broughman Jr. and wife, Carolyn; a special niece, Darlene Thomas and husband, Ray of Covington; a special nephew, J.B. Broughman and wife, Deborah of Covington; his extended family in France; and many nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbors. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 16, 2010, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Jesse Howard and the Rev. J.B. Broughman officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Deacon, Johnnie Kern, Bobby Tolley, Don Dulaney, Bill Sartain and Jimmy Linkenhoker. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Nickell, Darfow Rice, Bill Thurston and Eddie Clemmons. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
