Harry MillerMr. Harry Ethan Miller, age 88, of 1936 S. York Street, died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Alleghany Regional Hospital. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Foster Miller, whom he married on June, 21, 1954. He was born October 8, 1921 in Alderson, WV, the son of William M. Miller and Hettie Knapp Miller. After, Mr. Miller graduated from Alderson High School in 1940; he worked on the family farm until moving to Covington in 1958 and went to work at the former Industrial Rayon Plant before retiring from Hercules, Inc. with nineteen years service. After his retirement, he worked for the James River Forest District and he also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and spending time with his family. He attended Temple Baptist Church in Covington. In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Betty, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, H. Stephen and Vickie Miller of Hardy, VA; his daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Tim Burling of Roanoke; his two grandchildren, William T. Miller of Virginia Beach and Daniel J. Miller of Hardy, VA; his sister, Margaret Miller of Alderson, WV and his sister-in-law, Kathryn F. Massey of Peterstown, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Conard Miller and Harold Miller; two sisters, Dorothy Miller Pierce and Janet Barclay Miller. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hartsfield officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
