Eddie Nicely
Mr. Edward Wayne “Eddie” Nicely, age 61, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in Saline Memorial Hospital, Benton, AR. Mr. Nicely was born April 13, 1950 in Covington, the son of Edward Lee Nicely and the late Adeline “June” Nicely. Born and raised in this area, he attended local public schools and graduated from Alleghany High School. He served his country as a member of the United States Marines during the Vietnam War then reenlisted as a member of the Special Forces of the United States Army. Upon his return from the military, Mr. Nicely graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College with Associate’s Degree in Business Management before moving to Richmond and later completing his college degree in Texas as well as obtaining a HVAC degree. He worked as a boiler maker, ran a small heating and air conditioning company in Arkansas, and was a sheet metal mechanic for twenty years where he acquired the nickname “Chilli”. Mr. Nicely was a member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Some of his proudest accomplishments involved opening a nonprofit thrift store called, Helping Hands Consignment Shop where he gave back to others by helping out the needy in his area. He enjoyed volunteering every week at the local soup kitchen in Arkansas. Mr. Nicely is survived by one son, Dustin W. Nicely and fiancée, Catrina Foster of Tappahannock, VA; one daughter, Danielle Marie Nicely of Fredericksburg; grandchildren, Zachary Nicely, Chase Nicely and Heather Hawkins; four brothers, William Nicely and wife, Vivian of Mad River, CA, John Nicely of Anchorage, AK, Anthony Nicely and wife, Norma of Covington and Dennis Nicely and wife, Karen of Staunton; and three sisters, Patricia McMillian of Prosperity, SC, Edna Nicely of Daleville and Bridget McGuire and husband, Daniel of Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 18, 2011 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. William M. “Bill” Hartsfield officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted at Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
