Mrs. Eda Hylton Meeks, age 88, of Silver Spring, MD, died Monday, December 20, 2010.  She was the wife of Francis Meeks.

                Mrs. Meeks was born April 26, 1922 in Cambria, the daughter of the late Manuel Martin Hylton and Sarah Ellen Barringer Hylton.  An accomplished tailor, she owned her own home business.  Mrs. Meeks also worked for the Marine Corp as a typist and loved to garden.

                In addition to her husband, Francis Meeks, Mrs. Meeks is survived by two daughters, Teresa Meeks and husband, Fred Teal, and Janet Meeks; one grandson, Tommy Meeks-Teal.

                In addition to her parents, Manuel Martin Hylton and Sarah Ellen Barringer Hylton, Mrs. Meeks was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rebecca Meeks and five older sisters.

                A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 31, 2010, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Chesley officiating. 

                In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 877, Covington, VA 24426.
