   Dorothy Anderson

                Mrs. Dorothy Morris Anderson, age 80, of Roanoke, formerly of Covington, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009.  She was the wife of the late Kenneth Archie Anderson.
                Mrs. Anderson was born August 19, 1929 in Staunton, the daughter of the late John Randolph Morris and Margaret Baker Morris. 
                She waited tables at her Father’s Restaurant the Ogara Grill where she met her husband Kenneth. 
                She was a member of Covington Baptist Church, where she was very active in church functions including being a member of the Joy Sunday school class, the flower committee and especially enjoyed preparing meals at the church. 
                Mrs. Anderson enjoyed traveling to her favorite place, Myrtle Beach, and to Hawaii on her last trip.
                She was also a member of the Jackson River Garden Club. 
                Mrs. Anderson enjoyed cooking, doing crafts and was an excellent seamstress. 
                Mrs. Anderson is survived by her children, Gary Anderson of San Antonio, TX, Greg Anderson of Roanoke and Susan Anderson Westen of Charleston, SC. 
                Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Todd, Michelle, Meredith, Jennifer, Ryan, Sarah, and Chris; a great granddaughter Carrington; her daughters-in-law Mary and Gail; a sister, Jane Hanson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
                In addition to her husband, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her brother Joe Morris and by a son-in-law, Kirk Westen.
                A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 am, Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Covington Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Poluikis officiating.  Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. 
                The family will receive friends on Friday, September 28 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at Loving Funeral Home.
                Pallbearers will be Rodney Stinnett, Jay Anderson, Latney Brugh, Louie Gibson, Maurice King, Aaron Sims, Brett Southern, and Larry Snead.  Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Stinnett, Charlie Nichols, Steve Young, David Young, Members of the Joy Sunday School Class, and Members of the Jackson River Garden Club.
                In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kenneth and Dorothy Anderson Music Fund at the Covington Baptist Church, P.O. Box 687, Covington, VA 24426.
