Cynthia MayMrs. Cynthia Byer May, age 61, of 805 Oneida Trail Covington, died March 16, 2011 at her residence. She was the wife of John Clinton May Jr. She was born September 21, 1949 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Ira Francis Byer and Mamie Johnson Byer. Mrs. May worked at the Greenbrier Hotel in the sales office. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Mrs. May was a member and Past President of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed family history and was a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy. In addition to her husband, John Clinton May, Jr., she is survived by four step-sons: Roger Lee May, John C. May III, Daniel E. May and Dale May; one step- daughter: Jerry Diane Windsor of Covington; one brother- in- law: Clyde May and wife Lilly of Disputanta, Va.; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one uncle, Randall Johnson; two aunts: Audrey Wiley, Charlotte J. Stull and husband, Sonny and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents, Ira Francis Byer and Mamie Johnson Byer, Mrs. May was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Belinda May. A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Rev. LeBaron Taylor officiating, assisted by the Rev. George Pruitt.
