Clarence Brown Mr. Clarence W. Brown, Jr., age 83, of 602 James River View, Iron Gate, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Brown was born February 10, 1926 in Albermarle County, the son of the late Clarence W. Brown, Sr. and Vinnie Ferris Brown. A lifetime resident of this community, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Brown was employed as a fork lift operator by Westvaco, Inc, retiring in 1988. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Brown was a member of the Clifton Forge Moose Lodge. Mr. Brown is survived by a son, David W. Brown of Richmond; three daughters, Darlene B. Hooker of Covington, Peggy B. May and husband, Eugene of Iron Gate, and Korinda B. Deal and husband, Jamie of Harrisonburg; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Brown Peters of Pennsylvania and Frances McKenney of Marlinton, WV. In addition to his parents, Clarence W. Brown Sr. and Vinnie Ferris Brown, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a daughter, Geneva Brown Lemons. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 30, 2009, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in McKenney Cemetery, Marlinton, WV Pallbearers will be Eugene May, Elliott Hooker, Jonathan Harper, Shawn Matheny, Andy Mason, and Shane Davis.
