Carol Stone Pifer, 70, of 3003 Winterberry Ave., went to be witht the Lord Tuesday, March 23, 2010, from Alleghany Regional Hospital.

She was the widow of the late Fred E. Pifer Jr.

Mrs. Pifer was born June 1, 1939, in Boomer, W.Va., the daughter of Alberta Lively "Birdie" Stone and the late Don Emerson Stone.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Loving Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Noel officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral Home Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 3003 Winterberry Ave., Valley Ridge.

The family suggests that memorial tributes to Mrs. Pifer take the form of contributions to Good News Foursquare Church, 214 S. Lexington Ave., Covington, Va. 24426.
