Mrs. Betty Sue Long Broughman, age 71, of Covington, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.  She was the wife of J.D. “Doug” Broughman, Jr.

                Mrs. Broughman was born February 28, 1940 in Covington, the daughter of the late Delphin Braxton Long and Mabel Booze Long.  A lifetime member of this community, she was an employee of the former Covington National Bank from 1957 until 1971 as bank secretary.  Following her employment, she became a homemaker.  Mrs. Broughman was of the Methodist faith.  She was a member of the Jackson River Garden Club and enjoyed her flower gardens.

                Mrs. Broughman is also survived by one sister, Patricia Ann Long of Clifton Forge.

                A private graveside service was held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Douglas E. Hollenbeck officiating.
